Click the Remove Background button in the toolbar. If it’s not visible by default, you can add it from the Customize Toolbar menu. Tip: In case there are multiple subjects in your image, you can use any of the selection tools to mark only the ones you’d like to keep.

The background removal algorithm may still remove areas within your selection if these are not identified as subjects. Note: When removing background from a layer group, Pixelmator Pro creates a layer mask for that layer group.

To delete the background completely, the Remove Background action would have to be performed on each layer within the group individually. This will mask the background instead of deleting it and you’ll be able to edit the mask manually once added.

There are several companies out there offering this as a standalone feature. So if it’s really good this could be a reason to buy Pixelmator Pro. Sat Apr 06, pm Let me add to that request for noise reduction.

I shoot for a pro music magazine and sometimes have to push to really hi ISO. Now thing I love about Pixelmator is I edit with C1 and on1 raw and Pixelmator speedwise blows them away. Im hoping a dropper tool comes also for white balance and maybe more special effects or plug ins for making cinematic colors etc.

Otherwise, Great Jog!! Mon Apr 08, pm Hey Gary, we’re still working on this. It probably goes without saying but we’ve got really high standards for quality and we don’t want to release something that’s around the same level as other products, we always aim higher. So with noise reduction, we’re aiming to create the best denoise tool possible, which preserves quality and sharpness while removing all noise as flawlessly as possible. That’s quite a tricky task and our machine learning servers have been toiling away for a while now, but this is most definitely still on the roadmap.

What kind of a dropper tool are you looking for in the white balance adjustment, by the way? Something other than gray point? Wed Apr 10, am Hi Andrius, That’s really great that you are aiming high and only release a product or feature of it is ready. I agree to this. Next Add film grain to an image. The only thing that is really missing for me is a denoising algorythm to make high ISO images look better. Is this feature planned for a future release?

Wed Sep 04, pm We’ve been working on a denoise feature for quite a while now — it’s a tricky project so I can’t guarantee when it might be released, but it’s not just planned but already in development. Wed Sep 04, pm That sounds great! I was on the verge of getting a subscription for Lightroom, but I guess I will wait Will there be a beta version for the feature TestFlight? Wed Sep 04, pm Possibly but, again, no promises about when that might be — this is a very complex project so it will take time.

Wed Sep 04, pm Right, but its good to know that the denoising is in the works. I like it, but unfortunately I am not satisfied with RAW import very much. Comparing to Lightroom mobile, it seems to me that some amount of denoising is already automatically done during import.

I prefer natural look with grain much more.
