Microsoft Education vs. DonaldBailey13, Dec 2, Brink Win User. Brink, Dec 2, Andre Da Costa Win User.

Follow the on screen instructions, your system will be upgraded within 5 to 10 minutes, personal files, apps and settings preserved. If you don’t want to purchase the upgrade, then as suggested, the Windows 10 Enterprise 3 month trial might be a better option. You could download it then setup a dual boot with your Windows 10 Home installation. If you have a product key for Professional already, you can enter it to upgrade.

Andre Da Costa, Dec 2, I am a student and my Instructor wants us to do this so that I can do my homework assignments. Please help!! You must log in or sign up to reply here. Show Ignored Content. Thema: Microsoft Education vs. I’m On a side note, we have education licensing and I have spent ours upon hours testing each edition available to us. I have found that, for the life of me, I cannot prevent that God awful store app from rearing it’s ugly head over and over in any version except LTSB whiChat does not have the Store.

The latest GPOs, powershell commands run on the offline image, powershell commands run on fresh installs None of it works without causing constant error messages and tiles in the start menu that I don’t want and that don’t work anyway.

I thought I had my answer with the Education edition, but I still get damn store app tiles showing in the start menu. I don’t want my user maxhines to have freaking Candy Crush! I don’t want your God awful store apps advertising themselves on all of my machines and especially so after I’ve spent HOURS working on disable that crap! Yes I have also asked the vendor but they seem to be getting quite confused with all the Windows 10 licensing themselves as well.

It is an Enterprise E3 annual subscription we are buying and it costing a fortune so need to get it right. Tempted to use the LTSB edition, but it is so slimmed down it is missing some apps we would still like to have i. As you say if using normal Enterprise is going to be a pain to disable store etc then I really am not sure what Microsoft is doing here, as seem to be making this process as painful as possible for enterprises to adopt Windows The only edition you CAN’T use with enterprise licensing is Education edition you need Education licensing to do that.

Well I would encourage you to try it yourself. There is always the possibility that I am missing something. For us, LTSB is perfect. I know quite a bit of people see using LTSB as a mistake in a situation such as mine. But after the hours of fruitless work and constantly having to redo it because MS pushes updates that basically ‘undo’ all of that work, I hit a point where I decided my time was of more value spent doing one of my other many projects.

There are caveats with using LTSB. That doesn’t bother me too much because between MDT, PDQ deploy, and using roaming profiles with redirected folders, I can get those done almost hands free and in about 30 minutes each basically during a user’s lunch break. It’s something that you should know up front, however.

Brand Representative for Microsoft. Just for reference, we have about laptops and desktops, in total. The 25 I referenced above are are just a pilot group that we’ve been using as a type of user acceptance testing. Overall, our users have actually liked Windows But the cost of using straight enterprise or Education, for us at least, has proven to be significantly more than the relatively small amount of work I will have to put in to turn our lite touch imaging process in MDT to a ‘as close to zero touch as possible without CM or SCCM’ process.

Also, to clarify some points I made earlier. Chris, OP states that they have purchased the E3 subscription, not just outright purchase. This is a big purchase for our company as also upgrading from Office to at same time, so a big invoice to pay! This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting.
